THE WORLDS MOST BEAUTIFUL MARATHON
The Two Oceans Marathon was started in 1970 by Celtic Harriers member Dave Venter and given its name by then club member Noel Stamper. The well-loved route takes runners on a 56km or 21km route, through the most scenic parts of Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs and the Cape Peninsula. The club organized the race until around 2012 when we ceded the intellectual property to a non-profit company, Two Oceans Marathon NPC. Celtic Harriers still provides four directors of the twelve-member board. Full details of the Two Oceans Marathon can be found in the book “Celebrating 50 years of the Two Oceans Marathon” published in 2019.
