CELTIC HARRIERS INCENTIVE SCHEME - 2014

Our ideal is to see Celtics athletes performing well at the bigger, more prestigious events. We would like to see our athletes target and achieve of their best at these events where Celtic Harriers’ name can be visible to many and will hence bring honour to the Club.

The Celtic Harriers Incentive Scheme is therefore based on a thorough examination of the race calendar for the year ahead and is open to all Celtics members in good standing with the Club. Races have been categorised according to factors such as visibility and prestige. Incentives are awarded for Road Running, Track and Field and Cross Country events.

In addition the Time Bonus Scheme is intended to motivate exceptional performances by our athletes beyond top placement in a particular field. This cash incentive is open to all Celtics athletes for each of the four standard distance races (10km, 15km, 21.1km & 42.2.km).

There are incentives for the different age categories. The onus is on the athlete to make him or herself familiar with the scheme. For more details on the various incentive awards please consult the Celtics Website or contact the Club Secretary.

1.     General Conditions

·         The Scheme is applicable from 1 January 2014.

·         The Scheme is limited to Celtics members in good standing with the Club.

·         Athletes MUST compete in Celtics colours in order to qualify for an incentive.

·         All incentive claims must be submitted on the official claim form to the Club Secretary (Sharon Austen) in writing by hand or by email (not by SMS), no later than by the 25th of each month within three (3) months of the event (without exception).

·         The form is obtainable from the Club Secretary, the Website and is available in both hard-copy and electronic versions (for emailing).

·         The onus is on the athlete to submit the claim in time.

·         Claims will be checked and authorised for payment by the last day of each month and will be ratified by the Committee at the following month’s Committee meeting.

·         No incentives will be paid to runners participating in the Cape Peninsula Half & Full Marathon or the Don Lock Memorial Race (except Juniors). All runners are expected to offer their help at these races.

·         As a prize-winner at a race, the athlete should stay for prize-giving and receive his/her prize personally. If attendance at the race prize-giving is impossible, prize-winners should give their apologies to the race organisers and ask a Celtics member to receive the prize(s) on their behalf.

·         Prize-winners MUST wear Celtics colours (T-shirt/tracksuit top/running vest) when collecting their prize at prize-giving. Runners failing to do so will not be eligible to claim an incentive for that race.

·         The scheme is inextricably linked to the availability of funds within the Club. The Club thus retains the right to adjust, amend or terminate the scheme at any time should finances become a problem.

·         The scheme is open for review by the Committee if and when deemed appropriate by a majority of the said Committee.
